Tangerine dreams

Sunday Star-Times - Sunday Magazine - - FASHION WITH KARLYA SMITH -

The rusty, ochre shades that designers have been so taken with over the past couple of seasons have blossomed into marigold, tangerine and carrot-coloured shades for summer. These incendiary hues aren’t shy. They take their cues from emergency vest orange.

Even fashion houses like NOM*d and Zambesi, steered by designers who are known for their love of black, will dip their clothes in orange, yellow or purple when it feels right.

This season, NOM*d’s lookbook is a riot: patterns and more than one zingy colour are mixed with the frenetic activity of Loony Tunes and spaceship custom prints.

Paired with black, the power of orange is only highlighted. Likewise for shocking hues like yellow, chartreuse or anything highlighter.
