Manu Feildel

Sunday Star-Times - Sunday Magazine - - THE GRILL - Photograph by Chris McKeen Words by Britt Mann

Manu Feildel cuts a less controversial figure than his counterpart on My Kitchen Rules New Zealand.

French chef Feildel, 44, has reunited with Pete Evans, the Aussie foodie and paleo proselytiser to judge this year’s competition, in which six duos from across the country have dreamed up dishes to impress some of television’s more formidable culinary critics. Over the years, Evans has courted headlines with his unscientific views on everything from sunscreen and water fluoridation (anti), to bone broth for babies and onion poultices (pro). By contrast, Feildel, who got married to his long-term partner this year, has remained curiously vanilla. Ahead of MKR returning to Kiwi screens, about the most scandalous thing we got Feildel – a former circus performer – to reveal was his preference for martinis over mojitos. Here’s the rest of his Sunday Grill.
