Golf: Ja­son Day pro­duced a stun­ning hole-in-one to jump into con­tention along­side fel­low Aus­tralian Marc Leish­man af­ter the sec­ond round of the BMW Cham­pi­onship, the penul­ti­mate event on the PGA Tour play­offs sched­ule. The Aus­tralian world No 9 aced the 189-yard par-3 17th at Con­way Farms in Chicago en route to a six-un­der par 65 yes­ter­day. Day’s 13-un­der to­tal left him along­side world No 10 Rickie Fowler (64) in sec­ond place, three shots be­hind coun­try­man Leish­man, who fired a seven-un­der 64 to get to 16-un­der par. The hole-in-one came mo­ments af­ter Day, who won the event by six shots in 2015, pro­duced a chip-in ea­gle at the par-5 14th. ‘‘My last holein-one was at Turn­ing Stone (Re­sort Cham­pi­onship) in 2008, so I’ve had a bit of a dry spell,’’ Day said af­ter his round.
