Hearn captain

Sunday Star-Times - - SPORT -

Football: With one captain injured and another retired, Amber Hearn says she’ll be getting the captain’s armband against Japan because she is the oldest in the squad. While the 33-year-old, 124-cap veteran might have been a touch self-depricating with that statement, her words did speak to a sense that she would only be filling in after current captain Ali Riley was forced out of today’s match in Wellington with a quad injury. ‘‘I think it’s just a little token thing, Ali is always going to be the captain, I’m just the oldest, so that’s how it goes.’’
