LGBTI lessons for Scots

Sunday Star-Times - - WORLD -

The Scottish government will require all state schools to introduce a curriculum that explains the history of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) activism, educates students on the use of LGBTI terminology, and discusses ways to address homophobia. ‘‘Our education system must support everyone to reach their full potential,’’ Deputy First Minister John Swinney said. The move comes after a campaign called Time For Inclusive Education presented suggestions to the government. In June, Scottish lawmakers voted to pardon men who were charged with participating in homosexual acts.
