Search for diver continues

Family, friends and locals have joined the search for a missing diver off the rugged Wellington coast.

The 24-year-old diver, from New Plymouth, was reported missing off the Makara coast on Monday evening. Police confirmed the search resumed at first light yesterday.

Yesterday, the police launch, Lady Elizabeth IV, was joined by the Mana and Kapiti Coastguards and local surf lifesaving clubs, police said.

A Ministry for Primary Industries vessel also joined the search, along with Kapiti Air Patrol. Land SAR was doing a beach search.
