German prosecutors have charged a

94-year-old former Auschwitz guard with being an accessory to at least

13,335 murders at the World War II Nazi death camp. The former SS rifleman from Mannheim, who has not been named, faces trial in a juvenile court because he was a teenager when he allegedly took part in killings. If he is fit to stand trial, he will be the fourth SS guard to do so after a 2011 precedent that allowed rank-and-file soldiers to be prosecuted over the Holocaust. The man was born in Ruma, now part of Serbia, and worked from December

1942 until January 1943 "supporting camp operations and thus acts of extermination", prosecutors said.
