Slain man ‘a gentle soul’
A funeral remembering the life of Alex Latimer, whose body was discovered at a remote Hawke’s Bay property at the weekend, is to be held today. A death notice for the Napier man, 30, said he was a ‘‘free spirit with a gentle soul’’. ‘‘Our Alex had energy in abundance that he shared with all he came in contact with,’’ it said.
Latimer was the ‘‘loved son’’ of Donna Brady and
Mark Latimer, stepson to Jim
Brady and Rozanne Latimer,
‘‘devoted, loving’’ brother and brother-in-law to Kendal and Meg. Latimer was last seen on Sunday, September 30, at 1.25am, at the Bay View BP service station on the northern side of Napier. Police believed he was headed northwest to the Te Haroto area on the NapierTaupo¯ road. Two men have been jointly charged with Latimer’s assault and have been remanded in custody.
