Ohakune BNZ say hours reduced from this week
Staff at the BNZ in Ohakune are in discussions about their jobs as the branch prepares to reduce its opening hours.
The permanent change will start on Monday, May 22 opening five days a week from 10am to 2.30pm.
Currently four staff are employed at the branch.
Retail regional manager Kim Watson said a decline in demand for instore transactional and advisory services in Ohakune is the reason why hours have been reduced.
‘‘We are constantly reviewing the locations of our store network and their opening hours to make sure we are focusing investment in the areas we can best serve the changing needs of our customers,.’’
‘‘Every day we are grappling with the fact that the banking world is changing rapidly.’’
Watson said the reality of banking today is that 89 per cent of transactions are made using digital channels and Ohakune reflects this fact.
‘‘Our team in Ohakune are considering the change in hours and discussing their new role.’’
As well as using the BNZ ATM in Ohakune, customers can access BNZ internet, mobile and phone banking services and specialist support is available via our contact centre 24/7.
Phone banking is available Monday to Sunday 6.30am to 11pm.
