Three charged for unprovoked assault

Taupo Times - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE - TAUPO POLICE Family incidents: Theft vehicle:

An unprovoked assault on two tourists, in Roberts St on May 24, resulted in police arresting and charging three males .

The motivation for the attack is not clear however one of the offenders believed the victims - who had just exited from a restaurant - had disrespected him.

Both victims were left in shock and one required medical attention.

While the victim’s were disappointed that on lookers nearby failed to assist, Taupo Police said they don’t expect members of the public to put themselves in danger in these circumstances. Witnesses of violent crimes are advised to call police and stay around to speak to police, and assist with enquiries.
