Three charged for unprovoked assault
An unprovoked assault on two tourists, in Roberts St on May 24, resulted in police arresting and charging three males .
The motivation for the attack is not clear however one of the offenders believed the victims - who had just exited from a restaurant - had disrespected him.
Both victims were left in shock and one required medical attention.
While the victim’s were disappointed that on lookers nearby failed to assist, Taupo Police said they don’t expect members of the public to put themselves in danger in these circumstances. Witnesses of violent crimes are advised to call police and stay around to speak to police, and assist with enquiries.

Two vehicles were stolen from Pihanga Street and Hatepe Ave. Both are still outstanding: Red Toyota Corolla GSN950 and a white Nissan Navara TJ9790. A work vehicle was also taken from Rakanui St. The Ford Courier, ZT4685, is still outstanding. Theft of Property: There were 10 reports of theft of property involving The Warehouse, QStore and ANZ.
