‘‘I am very happy with the win. There was a lot of trial and error,’’ he said.

‘‘But to come away with the title is incredible. As a junior under 18 it is the pinnacle, the biggest achievement you can get.’’

He said throughout his Bowling adventure and achievements his dad has been his biggest supporter, taking him around New Zealand and practicing to make the event final.

Farquhar said throughout the competition ‘‘He [dad] was more nervous then me.’’

Farquhar is the fourth Bay of Plenty junior to win the title, following in the footsteps of Shane Taare [1984], Joseph Taare [1985] and Keri Te Tamaki [2007].

This capped of an amazing year for Farquhar who had won the North Island Secondary Schools Singles and Pairs recently at Mount Maunganui.

Farquhar said he is going to continue playing bowls and work his way to more wins.
