It is great to see a local business diving in boots and all and getting rid of single use plastic bags.
Most of us are uneasy about using plastic bags but use them anyway out of sheer convenience.
Personally, I keep a stash of plastic bags in the boot and keep re-using them until they fall apart.
But, I will admit, that is a pretty lame attempt to save the planet. The reality is, we don’t need them at all.
Paetiki SuperValue’s recent decision to do away with plastic bags means customers have to come prepared or pay a little extra for a reusable bag.
It is really just about habits and now there is a real incentive to remember to bring the reusable bags with you when you shop.
The fact they have had very little negative feedback on their decision shows it is the right one and I am sure they will get plenty of support from the community.
PS: Does anyone know of a good alternative to plastic bags for the disposal of household rubbish?
