Bowls game aban­doned

For the first time in months the Thurs­day 2x4x2 bowls pairs weekly com­pe­ti­tion was aban­doned be­cause of the weather at the Har­courts Taupo¯ Bowl­ing Club.

Play dur­ing the week was re­stricted to club rollup ses­sions on Tues­day, Satur­day and Sun­day.

Games at­tract good num­bers of lo­cal play­ers and vis­i­tors and show in­creas­ing in­ter­est for the sport in Taupo¯.

With two well cared-for greens, one ar­ti­fi­cial and one nat­u­ral, the club fa­cil­i­ties are en­cour­ag­ing lo­cal mem­bers, and out of town and overseas vis­i­tors for tour­na­ments and club ac­tiv­i­ties.

En­tries for club cham­pi­onships are in­creas­ing with the club cham­pi­onship pairs for men and for women sched­uled for Satur­day and Sun­day Novem­ber 17/18 and the sin­gles for men and women on De­cem­ber 15/16.

A pro­gres­sive pairs tour­na­ment spon­sored by life mem­bers Bri­die and Ray Spencer has also at­tracted a large field on Sun­day Novem­ber 11.

Round two of the three­way in­ter-club triples fea­tur­ing Taupo¯, Toko­roa and Arawa (Ro­torua) is due to be de­cided on Novem­ber 26.
