TA golf in fine fettle
Te Awamutu Golf Club stalwart Colin Green was blown away by the huge number of entries for Sunday’s club scramble.
“This must be the best member support ever for our Sunday club day,” said Green.
“Congratulations and thanks to all who made it possible. Long may it continue.”
Edward Kay posted the day’s best gross score of 79.
The men’s nett winner was Howard Wynyard with 71.
Stableford scoring was modest, led by Tim Crotty, Peter McGowan, Dean Tangiora and Ian Berry all with 36 points.
Women’s winners were Sylvia Gooch with 85 gross, Rewa Hawira 69 nett and Ani Bahler, Margaret Gray with 34 stableford.
Twos were scored by Tangiora and Berry.
Stand-out men in division two were Murray Green with 94 gross, Robert Coleman 72 nett and Peter Emery 36 stableford.
Green and Chris Chisholm scored twos.
Nearest pin winners were Angela Thomson (women), Dean Tangiora (senior men) and Chris Chisholm (junior men).
Long drive winners were Pauline Chisholm (women), Edward Kay (senior men) and Craig Meacheam (junior men).
Sunday’s nine hole scramble winners were Karen Corkill with 55 gross and Sandra White 23 stableford.
Ray Davies streeted his rivals with 43 stableford in the open midweek tournament. The runner-up was Les Common with 36 points.
Jan Mandeno won the women’s club day scramble with 36 points from Pauline Chisholm, Christine Ball 34.
There was a triple deadheat in the nine hole division featuring Glenys Bremner, Robin Watson, Ann Dobson all with 16 stableford.
Richard Woodward and Toby Thomson were joint winners of the Best of the Vets scramble last Thursday with 41 stableford from Les Common 40, Barry Ross 39, Alan Goodwin 38, Herman Oosterman 36.
Leading Saturday women were Ani Bahler with 42 stableford, Karen Campton 38.
Division two winner Murray Green.
