Stal­wart Grylls wins SA golf club’s scram­ble

Leigh Grylls ac­cu­mu­lated 45 stable­ford for a win in Sun­day’s scram­ble at Ste­wart Alexan­der Golf Club.

The 30 hand­i­cap­per was out in 45 and home in 49 for a 94 gross.

The club stal­wart says her hand­i­cap re­duces to around 21 in the sum­mer but goes out when she nor­mally strug­gles to com­bat the heavy win­ter go­ing.

Alan Ramsey, with 43 stable­ford, and Bill Garvin 42 were Grylls’ near­est chal­lengers.

Ja­cob Carey posted the day’s best gross round of 77.

Rod Ward ex­celled shoot­ing a 63 nett in the Vet­er­ans scram­ble, fin­ish­ing five shots clear of the run­ner-up, Ja­cob Carey. The stable­ford was won by Ian Cole­man with 38 points, from John Liss­ing­ton 37. Ward scored the soli­tary two. Nei­ther of the NEC jack­pots were struck.
