Forster wins in vet­eran golf scram­ble at Te Awa­mutu club

Mick Forster trounced his ri­vals with 47 sta­ble­ford points in the vet­eran scram­ble at Te Awa­mutu Golf Club.

The 35 hand­i­cap­per fin­ished five points clear of joint run­ners-up Ross Mur­ray and Richard Wood­ward.

Forster cov­ered the first nine holes in 49 and came home in 47 for a 96 gross.

Other play­ers to score 40 or more points were Sid Lim, Ger­ald Lane, John Trye 41 and Roy Green­halgh, Toby Thom­son 40.

Open mid­week tour­na­ment win­ners were Sonny Te Kanawa with 76 gross, Tim Crotty 45 sta­ble­ford, John Hill 44, Ross Sig­nal 42, John Sta­ples, Ray Davies, John Trye 40. Sig­nal scored the soli­tary two.

The women’s club day scram­ble was won by Dale Spiers with 44 sta­ble­ford from Chris­tine Lloyd 43, Raewyn Cole­man 42, An­nette Ir­win 41.

Glenys Brem­ner took out the nine hole di­vi­sion scram­ble with 14 putts, from Robin Wat­son 15, Jenny Forster, Lyn­leigh Stephens 16.
