Volunteers dig deep at Little Waihı¯
More than a dozen people headed to Little Waihı estuary at the weekend to pull out and replace plants.
With two hours of hard work, the 14 volunteers had cleared a massive pile of rubbish and exposed O some nice soil.
In that soil were planted flaxes, taupata and karo on the edge of a section O and 200 oioi sea rushes along the sea wall. O Bay of Plenty Regional Council provided the plants and the workers were rewarded with a barbecue.
The next event planned is in October and will target pest weeds.
