Sports stars theme for the Te Puke Christmas parade

Te Puke Times - - NEWS -

Santa isn’t the only big name to be celebrated at this year’s Seeka Te Puke Float Parade.

After the Denny Hulme theme of last year’s parade, local sports stars will be celebrated in 2018.

Epic Te Puke members have been busy over the past few weeks preparing for the popular parade that will take place on December 1.

The parade will once again start outside Te Puke Service Centre and travel east along Jellicoe St to the Oxford St roundabout and return along Jellicoe Street to turn at RD1 to make a second circuit.

The parade begins at 11am.

All floats will be judged on the theme of celebrating local sports stars and prizes have been donated in a range of categories: AFFCO Rangiuru Community Organisations, 1st $400, 2nd $200, 3rd $50; Ultimate Motor Group Education, 1st $400, 2nd $200, 3rd $50; ZESPRI International Business and Commercial (including daycare businesses), 1st $400, 2nd $200, 3rd $50; and the DMS Progrowers Supreme Theme Prize, $600 with the winner also claiming the Te Puke Jewellers Trophy.

Epic Te Puke marketing manager Rebecca Larsen says the organisation is grateful to the sponsors and businesses who help with the parade.

“If you would like to sponsor or donate toward the event running costs, we are still looking to fill a couple of sponsorship opportunities,” she says.

Registration forms for participation can be picked up at the Te Puke Library or by sending an email to ad

“We always need a lot of help to put on the town parade so if you are able to lend a hand on the day to volunteer please email ad,” says Rebecca.

Santa will once again bring up the rear at Te Puke’s Float Parade pulled by his reindeer and the crew from Cheetham Excavators.
