So­cial bowls gets rolling

Te Puke Bowl­ing Club’s Com­mu­nity Bowls gets un­der way this evening with a record field of 32 teams.

The pop­u­lar tour­na­ment is run on Thurs­day evenings dur­ing the sum­mer and is de­signed to give non-bowlers the op­por­tu­nity to try their hand at lawn bowls in a very so­cial at­mos­phere.

Spot prizes, raf­fles, bar­be­cue and bar fa­cil­i­ties are all avail­able.

Com­mu­nity bowls is run over two series of five weeks, one start­ing early Novem­ber, the other early Fe­bru­ary.

While the tour­na­ment is fully sub­scribed, the bowl­ing club has or­gan­ised a “have a go” af­ter­noon on Sun­day from 12.30pm for any­one wish­ing to have a roll up and learn the ba­sics of out­door bowls.

Top prizes, sausage siz­zle and bar fa­cil­i­ties again will be avail­able. Flat­soled footwear or bare­foot is re­quested.
