Social bowls gets rolling
Te Puke Bowling Club’s Community Bowls gets under way this evening with a record field of 32 teams.
The popular tournament is run on Thursday evenings during the summer and is designed to give non-bowlers the opportunity to try their hand at lawn bowls in a very social atmosphere.
Spot prizes, raffles, barbecue and bar facilities are all available.
Community bowls is run over two series of five weeks, one starting early November, the other early February.
While the tournament is fully subscribed, the bowling club has organised a “have a go” afternoon on Sunday from 12.30pm for anyone wishing to have a roll up and learn the basics of outdoor bowls.
Top prizes, sausage sizzle and bar facilities again will be available. Flatsoled footwear or barefoot is requested.
