The Bay Chronicle - - CONVERSATIONS - Brad Windust Paihia

Bay Bush Action trust urges the FNDC to develop a cat strategy. NZ’s 1.1 million pet cats are estimated to kill 8.6 million native species every year.

BBA advocates for microchipping, registration, de-sexing, 24 hour containment to the owner’s property and a license to breed and sell cats. This is not only to protect our wildlife, it is for the cat’s own welfare.

Cats that are contained to their owner’s property live longer and happier lives. We need the council to step up on this issue. Our native wildlife is in serious decline. A well thought out cat strategy would be a huge help.

There are many benefits to owning a dog.
