Po­lice are on the hunt for the driver of a Toy­ota Es­tima in­volved in a hit-and-run in the

Far North. Wilma Laura Terore,

67, died about 11pm on Septem­ber 22 af­ter a car hit her on State High­way 12 be­tween Ohaeawai and Kaikohe. De­tec­tive Tre­ston Lay­bourn from

North­land po­lice said CCTV footage showed the car was likely sil­ver or grey and pos­si­bly a model from 2004 or older. Lay­bourn said Terore’s fam­ily was dev­as­tated and po­lice were pro­vid­ing sup­port to them. The car was thought to still be in the Kaikohe area and could have dam­age to its front, Lay­bourn said.
