Police are on the hunt for the driver of a Toyota Estima involved in a hit-and-run in the
Far North. Wilma Laura Terore,
67, died about 11pm on September 22 after a car hit her on State Highway 12 between Ohaeawai and Kaikohe. Detective Treston Laybourn from
Northland police said CCTV footage showed the car was likely silver or grey and possibly a model from 2004 or older. Laybourn said Terore’s family was devastated and police were providing support to them. The car was thought to still be in the Kaikohe area and could have damage to its front, Laybourn said. Anybody who had seen the car, knew who the driver was, or had other information on the incident should phone Kaikohe police on 09 405 2960 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
