Secrecy surrounds sculpture

The Cut - - NZ OPEN 2016 -

A star attraction at the 2016 NZ Open may well be a new sculpture. The brainchild of Craig Palmer, director of golf at The Hills, this 800kg sculpture will be a working piece.

While Palmer is coy about what the sculpture is he would reveal that “it was one of those ideas that grew and I suggested it to Michael and Emma (Hill)”.

Turns out father and daughter liked the idea so it became a reality.

“The concept was to have a functioning sculpture. We are always looking to do something different here at The Hills and I can promise you that this is different,” Palmer said.

It is certain to be a head turner when it takes pride of place on the hill behind the 11th green; it is understood it will be visible from Arrowtown.
