It may look serene, but Cir­colo Golf Villa d’Este (Villa d’Este Golf Club) is re­garded as one of the tough­est in Europe be­cause of its hilly, nar­row, tree-lined fair­ways and tight par-3 holes. It is in the fa­mously pic­turesque lake dis­trict of Como where ex­pa­tri­ate Bri­tish de­signer Peter Gan­non built this course on the hills near Lake Como and Lake Mon­tor­fano.

Not to be con­fused with the gar­dens at Tivoli with the same name, Villa d’Este near Como has hosted many am­a­teur and pro­fes­sional golf tour­na­ments and rates highly in polls of Europe’s top cour­ses.
