Fox Sports has dropped a bombshell by axing former world No 1 Greg Norman as its lead analyst after only one year.
Apparently network executives were unhappy with Norman’s low-energy and surprisingly “inert” approach to the role; he was reported to talk too little rather than too much, unlike many of his fellow sports analysts. Word is he was also underprepared and often exposed when it came to his knowledge — or lack of it — about the world’s top golfers.
One source from within the industry revealed: “Maybe he thought just being Greg Norman was enough. He’s been successful in everything he’s done in business but he wasn’t good at TV. He was a team player but when the cameras turned on he just went silent.”
