Pretty picks for a fun day out in the city

The Dominion Post - - Capital Day -

Ruth Pretty’s holy trinity of catering includes impeccable organisation, high quality service, and great food. But there is no trinity when it comes to finding places to eat and relax in the capital, as the city has so much on offer. I love the Wellington waterfront, partly because every inch of it is etched in my memory by an event. There are so many outstanding venues and spaces on the waterfront. Early morning or evening I walk around our property doing little garden jobs, such as dead heading roses or removing limp rainbow chard leaves. This puts my mind in a different zone. We have a triangle of protected native bush and if inspiration requires peacefulness, I disappear into the trees and count native birds.
