Not-so-lucky pups
Dozer, a dogue de bordeaux, bit a woman visiting his Blenheim owner, John Tebbutt, in February. Marlborough District Council sought Dozer’s death and Judge David Ruth made the order in May. Irish wolfhounds Sun Bear,
TuTu and Sorcha, owned by Dunedin’s Thomas O’Neill, attacked a woman delivering newspapers in December 2015. The three were surrendered and destroyed before O’Neill appeared in court.
Bear, a pitbull-neapolitan mastiffcross, owned by Palmerston North woman Caralyn Pene, attacked a man in January. Pene surrendered Bear, and the dog which was destroyed before her court date.
Rascal, a rhodesian ridgeback, was one of three dogs to attack two women near Napier last October. The owners of the other dogs surrendered them for destruction. Kayla Bremner wanted Rascal back but Judge Bridget Mackintosh ordered his destruction in February.
