Warm fuzzies on Emirates

-

Kiwis hopping on an Emirates flight can now travel with the knowledge they will be using sustainably made blankets. The Dubai airline has introduced blankets made from completely recycled plastic bottles in economy class for all long-haul flights. Each blanket uses 28 recycled bottles and by the end of 2019, the blankets would have used 88 million bottles from landfills. The bottles are recycled into plastic chips before they are turned into a yarn used to create polar fleece material. The eco blankets round out Emirates’ blanket overhaul, following the addition of faux sheepskin blankets in first class and soft duvets in business class.
