Thorndon beauty sells well above its RV
ATHORNDON character home that had been exceptionally renovated has been auctioned for $250,000 above its rateable value. The property, at 267 Tinakori Rd, had a rateable value of $850,000 and sold for $1.1 million.
Ken Dentice, of Harcourts, said it was a ‘‘magnificent beauty’’ from an era when houses were made to last.
Built in the 1890s, the 130-square-metre dwelling had been ‘‘renovated to an exceptional standard’’ on a sheltered 225sqm section with an outdoor backyard.
‘‘It was ideal for families,’’ Dentice says. ‘‘It had four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a designer kitchen, was handy to the city, Parliament, universities and the stadium, and all the hard work had been done.’’
