Former PM hopes new PM can work with Aussies

National leader Bill English hopes new Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern can improve her relationship with the Australian government, following the dust-up around Labour MP Chris Hipkins’ involvement with Australian Deputy PM Barnaby Joyce’s citizenship row. Speaking to Sky News yesterday, English said: ‘‘It’s important that relationship is positive for the new prime minster because of this bit of tension ... in the relationship between Australia and New Zealand.’’
