Park assault charges laid
A 14-year-old has been charged over the violent assault of another teenager in a Flaxmere, Hastings, playground.
Detective constable Steve Leonard said a 14-year-old boy appeared in the Hastings District Youth Court on Monday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and theft, in relation to an assault on a 14-yearold victim. Police are still searching for more people believed to be involved in the attack.
The victim was assaulted at a playground off Scott Drive about 2.15am on October 15.
Before the assault, the victim had been at a party, and had recently left. Neighbours and guests at the party heard noises from the playground and went to investigate. They saw three people standing over the victim who was on the ground injured, but the three quickly left the scene.
