Gadget-run lives

The Dominion Post - - Opinion -

When I’d read the Technology page and also TV goes beyond the box (Nov 15), which mentioned Auckland Transport’s new app alerting passengers to their stop in case they are too absorbed in a movie to notice, I cringed.

Artificial Intelligence is already upon us. There are apparently people who welcome their lives being ordered like this by a gadget. It concerns me greatly to see so many walking along in the city with their brain in their hand, totally oblivious of any other human being.

A neighbourhood walk where there are still people who offer unknown others a smile and a greeting may become an endangered human connection. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts!
