Meth drug busts

Eleven peo­ple were also ar­rested in Wairarapa yes­ter­day af­ter po­lice tar­geted a metham­phetamine op­er­a­tion in Master­ton.

More than 50 of­fi­cers ex­e­cuted 10 search war­rants, ar­rest­ing peo­ple rang­ing in age from their late teens to late 50s.

Po­lice said they were all ‘‘closely’’ as­so­ci­ated. They face 100 charges, in­clud­ing class A drug deal­ing, money laun­der­ing, par­tic­i­pat­ing in an or­gan­ised crim­i­nal group, and other drugs charges.

Act­ing Wairarapa com­man­der In­spec­tor Scott Miller said plan­ning for the raids, known as Op­er­a­tion Swe­den, be­gan about six months ago. Cash and vehicles were also re­cov­ered.
