MFAT signs agreement on Pacific aid for newborns
Unicef and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade have signed a $7 million agreement to support the prevention and reduction of newborn mortality in Kiribati, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. The signing ceremony took place in Suva, Fiji, on Monday. Nearly 1700 children under five died in the Pacific in 2016. More than 80 per cent of those children died within their first year. The Government has been clear on its intentions to provide more development assistance to Pacific nations.
