The min­is­ter who saved Stage Chal­lenge events

The team be­hind Smoke­free Rock­quest high school events will now be run­ning the re­place­ment for Stage Chal­lenge. Ed­u­ca­tion Min­is­ter Chris Hip­kins promised the Gov­ern­ment would step in to re­place the pop­u­lar school cul­tural event, after it was canned due to a lack of fund­ing. Yes­ter­day, he an­nounced Rock­Quest Pro­mo­tions will run the event in 2018, funded by a one-off $800,000 grant from the Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion. More than 500,000 stu­dents have par­tic­i­pated in the shows since 1992.
