In defence of rabbits

The Dominion Post - - Opinion -

Who needs Bashar al-Assad when you have our very own Greater Wellington Regional Council releasing biological warfare on our rabbit population.

What is with New Zealanders and their hatred of small, furry mammals? OK, so we brought them here, but now they are here why can’t Kiwis accept them?

I get as much joy out of seeing a rabbit or a hare (except when they are chewing the stem of one of my saplings) as a tui, fantail or magpie.

I certainly won’t enjoy seeing a rabbit dying in agony from an imported virus that I have ‘‘helped’’ fund through my GWRC rates bill. NEIL DOUGLAS Carterton
