Takeaway shop robbed
A 20-year-old man has been charged with aggravated robbery after a takeaway store was robbed at gunpoint. Aperehama Brian Buick appeared in Palmerston North District Court yesterday, charged with the robbery. Police were called to Ocean Pantry Takeaways in Kelvin Grove, Palmerston North, about 7.20pm on Thursday and were told a man armed with a rifle had robbed it, a police spokeswoman said. The caller provided a description of the car, and as police were on their way to the shop, they saw a vehicle matching the description and stopped it. The driver was arrested and a gun and cash were found. Buick was remanded in custody and is set to appear in court again later this month.
