Hope for endangered bird

Four of New Zealand’s rarest birds have been released on Motutapu Island in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf, following a record-breaking breeding programme. The shore plover/ tuturuatu is critically endangered, with only about 250 left in the world. It was hoped to release 21 more juveniles by the end of March.
