The Hand of Fashion - - ART IS AT HAND -

Tahir Carl Karmali is a photographer from Kenya, currently based in New York City, United States. Starting his career as a food photographer, he has now become a photographer with a diverse portfolio. He aims for his photography to communicate a concept that leads the viewer to question their own perceptions. In his “Towel Heads” series, with the simple use of a towel as a prop, Tahir unites a group of diverse people and produces portraits with a raw quality.

“I use photography and art as a form of therapy and catharsis. I feel that my work is just an extension of myself - coming from Africa is definitely an influence but not a definitive factor in what I create.”
