Top musicians to perform in Bay
New Zealand Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Vesa-Matti Leppanen, violin, and principal cellist Andrew Joyce will perform as soloists with Hawke’s Bay Orchestra as part of Napier Civic Choir’s concert weekend from August 4 to 6.
Joyce said they are looking forward to performing the Brahms Double Concerto in A minor Op. 102 for violin, cello and orchestra, at Napier’s Waiapu Cathedral on Saturday, August 5.
The programme also features Weber’s Overture to Oberon and Dvorak’s masterful 7th Symphony, regarded by many as his finest.
On August 4 and 6, Napier Civic Choir, soloists and Hawke’s Bay Orchestra perform Haydn’s The Creation, a depiction of the creation of the world, sung in English, which is considered one of Haydn’s greatest works.
The performances also feature soprano soloist Anna Leese, who has received a number of international awards.
She is joined by tenor Filipe Manu and bass Joel Amosa.
Napier Civic Choir’s Music Director, Jose Aparicio, will conduct all three concerts.
NZSO principal cellist Andrew Joyce will play the Brahms Double Concerto in A minor.
