Top mu­si­cians to per­form in Bay

New Zealand Sym­phony Or­ches­tra con­cert­mas­ter Vesa-Matti Lep­pa­nen, vi­o­lin, and prin­ci­pal cel­list Andrew Joyce will per­form as soloists with Hawke’s Bay Or­ches­tra as part of Napier Civic Choir’s con­cert week­end from Au­gust 4 to 6.

Joyce said they are look­ing for­ward to per­form­ing the Brahms Dou­ble Con­certo in A mi­nor Op. 102 for vi­o­lin, cello and or­ches­tra, at Napier’s Wa­iapu Cathe­dral on Satur­day, Au­gust 5.

The pro­gramme also features We­ber’s Over­ture to Oberon and Dvo­rak’s mas­ter­ful 7th Sym­phony, re­garded by many as his finest.

On Au­gust 4 and 6, Napier Civic Choir, soloists and Hawke’s Bay Or­ches­tra per­form Haydn’s The Cre­ation, a de­pic­tion of the cre­ation of the world, sung in English, which is con­sid­ered one of Haydn’s great­est works.

The per­for­mances also fea­ture so­prano soloist Anna Leese, who has re­ceived a num­ber of in­ter­na­tional awards.

She is joined by tenor Filipe Manu and bass Joel Amosa.

Napier Civic Choir’s Mu­sic Di­rec­tor, Jose Apari­cio, will con­duct all three con­certs.

NZSO prin­ci­pal cel­list Andrew Joyce will play the Brahms Dou­ble Con­certo in A mi­nor.
