1. Norse­wood was once part of Seventy Mile Bush, a large forestry area.

2. The land was bought from Ma¯ori by Julius Vo­gel un­der the Gov­ern­ment Plan.

3. About 750 Scan­di­na­vian peo­ple were re­cruited as im­mi­grants to tame the land as they were skilled farm­ers and woods­men.

4. Norse­wood street names rep­re­sent the im­mi­grant fam­i­lies who ar­rived to the vil­lage from Den­mark, Swe­den, Poland, Ger­many and Eng­land in the 1800s. 5. There are trolls (pic­tured) hid­den about the town and can be spot­ted when walk­ing about the town.
