1. Norsewood was once part of Seventy Mile Bush, a large forestry area.
2. The land was bought from Ma¯ori by Julius Vogel under the Government Plan.
3. About 750 Scandinavian people were recruited as immigrants to tame the land as they were skilled farmers and woodsmen.
4. Norsewood street names represent the immigrant families who arrived to the village from Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Germany and England in the 1800s. 5. There are trolls (pictured) hidden about the town and can be spotted when walking about the town.
