Showhunters jump into Foxton
It was a positive day for Rangitı¯kei Pony Club at the Manawatu¯ Pony Club National Showhunter Championship in Foxton.
Rangitı¯kei came second in the teams category, which taken out by Wellington, with Manawatu¯ Pony Club settling for ninth at the event which wrapped up on Monday.
It was the third consecutive year Wellington have won the teams category, with Rangitı¯kei finishing fourth in 2016.
Rangitı¯kei’s Emma Mckelvie riding Fiordlands Lady Betty was second in category A and sixth in the equitation. Katie Vennell riding Ty Gwyn Quick Silver was the best of the Manawatu¯ riders in category A finishing seventh
Manawatu¯ was second in the top pairs in category A coming second with Rangitı¯kei fourth.
Manawatu¯’s Bridie Beveridge, riding Jimmy, was the best placed local in category B finishing eighth.
Teammate Ruby Winder, riding LVS Cookies and Cream was sixth in the equitation.
Chantelle Smith took out the category C title.
The Rangitı¯kei rider, on board Finch, had a strong day to finish ahead of Manawatu¯s Hannah Evans on Theo, who was eighth, teammate Grace Greig on Hazy Gray, who was 10th. Finch also won the equitation. Rangitı¯kei’s Jessica Barr won the hack on Captain Solute.

There were 17 different clubs from across the North Island entered.
