Showhunters jump into Fox­ton

It was a pos­i­tive day for Ran­gitı¯kei Pony Club at the Manawatu¯ Pony Club Na­tional Showhunter Cham­pi­onship in Fox­ton.

Ran­gitı¯kei came sec­ond in the teams cat­e­gory, which taken out by Welling­ton, with Manawatu¯ Pony Club set­tling for ninth at the event which wrapped up on Mon­day.

It was the third con­sec­u­tive year Welling­ton have won the teams cat­e­gory, with Ran­gitı¯kei fin­ish­ing fourth in 2016.

Ran­gitı¯kei’s Emma Mckelvie rid­ing Fiord­lands Lady Betty was sec­ond in cat­e­gory A and sixth in the eq­ui­tation. Katie Ven­nell rid­ing Ty Gwyn Quick Sil­ver was the best of the Manawatu¯ rid­ers in cat­e­gory A fin­ish­ing sev­enth

Manawatu¯ was sec­ond in the top pairs in cat­e­gory A com­ing sec­ond with Ran­gitı¯kei fourth.

Manawatu¯’s Bri­die Bev­eridge, rid­ing Jimmy, was the best placed lo­cal in cat­e­gory B fin­ish­ing eighth.

Team­mate Ruby Win­der, rid­ing LVS Cook­ies and Cream was sixth in the eq­ui­tation.

Chantelle Smith took out the cat­e­gory C ti­tle.

The Ran­gitı¯kei rider, on board Finch, had a strong day to fin­ish ahead of Manawatu¯s Han­nah Evans on Theo, who was eighth, team­mate Grace Greig on Hazy Gray, who was 10th. Finch also won the eq­ui­tation. Ran­gitı¯kei’s Jessica Barr won the hack on Cap­tain So­lute.
