- TOM HUNT

A knife-wielding man got into a fight with a worker at a Lower Hutt gambling outlet before taking off with cash.

But before the man took off, two bystanders jumped in with one of them getting a cut to the arm.

According to police, the aggravated robbery happened at the TAB on Jackson St, Petone, at 7.55pm on Wednesday.

A man, armed with a knife, got into a ‘‘scuffle’’ with a TAB employee before two patrons jumped in with one of them getting a superficial cut to his right forearm.

The perpetrator then got off with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

The knife-wielding man was yet to be caught.

He was described as European, 30 to 40 years old, and about 1.8 metres tall. He was clean-shaven and wore dark clothing.

Police were looking at CCTV footage while a forensic team carried out a scene examination.
