Sec­ond mo­tor­way walker found, af­ter ear­lier death

A day af­ter a pedes­trian was killed on the Welling­ton mo­tor­way, an­other per­son has been found walking along the stretch of high­way.

Po­lice re­ceived multiple calls about the man, who was walking north along a south­bound lane of the mo­tor­way near the Aotea off ramp about 7.30am on Mon­day.

He was re­port­edly look­ing down at the In­ter­is­lander ferry ter­mi­nal. Po­lice picked the man up and took him to Pe­tone.

The in­ci­dent was just 13 hours af­ter an­other man was killed while walking on the mo­tor­way.

It was 6.25pm on Sun­day when po­lice were told a car had hit a man on the mo­tor­way and he was ly­ing on the road, just south of the Ngau­ranga in­ter­change, po­lice said.

Po­lice were in­ves­ti­gat­ing how he ended up on the mo­tor­way.
