Waipu

Don some tartan and say 'dia dhuit' to Waipu. Located a few minutes off SH1, Waipu is the largest town in the region, with a blend of cafés, second-hand stores, historical monuments and supply stores for the surrounding farming community. It's a hub for the region, and the historical centre of Bream Bay.

Norman McLeod, founder of Waipu In September 2018, a large fire burned down the Waipu Pharmacy, The Waipu Herbal Apothecary and Waipu Café Deli. At the time of printing, as the community rallied to support those affected, it was too early for rebuild plans.
