Internet expert shares his tricks

It’s never too late to join the internet business revolution.

That’s what Tuatapere internet entrepreneur Justin Lewis believes, and he’s visiting Invercargill to spread the word with his free presentation – entitled Introduction to Facebook for Business – on Wednesday June 29.

After successfully establishing his own ecommerce business selling native plants, which grew to become a Trade Me top seller and store, Lewis saw an opportunity to help others harness the power of the internet to grow their own operations.

Having expanded his range of activities into ecommerce coaching, Lewis’ latest presentation at SIT will help local businesses get to grips with the basics of using social media as a profitable business tool.

‘‘The internet is a part of everything we do today. If you’re not online as a business, you’re effectively invisible to a massive chunk of the market. It’s fair to say we’ve been burying our heads in the sand for a long time and getting away with it, but now it’s simply time to get on and do it,’’ he said.

His two-hour presentation would explain and demonstrate some of the potential of Facebook as a business tool, while touching on his own establishing a ecommerce brand.

‘‘Because we’re relatively late adopters of many new technologies, we can turn that to our experiences successful advantage by learning from the mistakes that have already been made. We start from a position of best practice.’’

Many Southland businesses were already doing ‘‘amazing’’ work online, but that shouldn’t lead to complacency, Lewis said.

‘‘We can all learn off each other and pool our resources.’’

Newcomers to the internet should also be reassured, he said. What: Introduction to Facebook for Business free presentation.
