The Invercargill Eye - - FRONT PAGE -

When a big act comes to a small town everyone gets excited.

I was lucky enough to see Bill Bailey live at the Invercargill Civic Theatre on Friday night.

It was one of those performances which was a perfect blend of comedy, intellect and stupidity.

From the moment he stepped on the stage to the moment he left Bill Bailey had me laughing so hard I had tears in the corners of my eyes. And I was not alone - the Civic Theatre was full of grinning Southlanders.

After the show everyone was in a buzz. People were excited and it wasn’t just because it was a great show. It was because an internationally renowned comedian had chosen to visit our little city.

When someone decides to visit, Southlanders rise to the occasion and prove why it is a great place.

Bill Bailey promised he would one day be back to perform in Invercargill again. I hope he does, and other international artists follow his lead. – Joanna Griffiths
