The Invercargill Eye - - A LENDING HAND -

Christmas is just around the corner and for some this is a difficult time of the year. The stresses and strains of the past year and the expectations that come with Christmas are often just too much for people to handle. Whether they have money concerns or relationships that are strained, it all culminates into a situation they are none to keen to participate in, much less look forward to.

Family violence too escalates over this time of the year, with family members gathered in one place, it can often create disharmony.

It is important that you take all these aspects into consideration when planning how you will spend Christmas. Remember too that Christmas is about spending quality time with the ones you love. It needn’t be about gift giving at all.

There are also those who will be spending the festive season alone and it is important that they are taken into consideration. If you have an elderly neighbour or perhaps a person who lives alone with no family about, invite them over for lunch with your family or if that doesn’t suit, simply stop in for a chat just to check up on them and see how they are doing. You could even spend an afternoon in the kitchen with the children baking some Christmas treats.

If you or anyone you know is feeling the burden of Christmas or not coping with other aspects of their life, there are people to help. Contact the advertisers on this page for more information, they will be happy to help in anyway they can.
