The Invercargill Eye - - FRONT PAGE -

It’s that time of year again.

Time to sit back and smell the burnt rubber, exhaust fumes and revel in the sound of a two-stroke engine.

That’s right; it is the Burt Munro Challenge week.

Motorbikes and people have already started to filter into Invercargill ready for festivities later this week.

It has been a trying month for most of us, with the American election, earthquakes and tsunami warnings.

It is good to see the community rally around an event.

We all need to unwind, and whether you are a motorbike lover or not I think this event is a great opportunity to do that.

Southland is a great region and now, with upwards of 20,000 spectators expected, is the time to remind everyone why.

So whether you are racing or spectating, kick back, cross your fingers and pray for a bit of sun, and relax this week.

I know I am planning to do just that.
