The Invercargill Eye - - FRONT PAGE -

Sun’s out, means sneakers out.

In Southland, we have so many different walking tracks that are all beautiful and different.

With the nice weather lately, I have been trying to make the most of the tracks.

I like the silence (apart from my occasional moan of sore legs or shortness of breath) and they make me feel accomplished once I have flopped back into the car.

During the weekend, the sun was out so I decided to head to one of my favourite tracks in Omaui. The decent uphill trek is always rewarded with gorgeous views of Invercargill, Riverton, Bluff, and Stewart Island in the distance.

I’m not the most fit person in the world, so reaching the top meant I was ready for my heart to slow down. But instead, there was a dead, half-fly-eaten possum on the track which I almost stepped on. I am a self-proclaimed princess, so it definitely shocked any sense of peace and relief from my system.

But in all seriousness, I challenge everyone to make the most of the good weather by getting active.
