Colourful beginnings

The Leader (Nelson) - - News -

In a perfect example of the city’s growing diversity, a new stall has opened at the Nelson Market set up by a woman from Switzerland and a woman from Guam. Ma Belle Soeur (French for My Beautiful Sister or My Sister-in-law) is co-owned by Alesia Pochon and Yael Pochon-Vallyon, and features unique ‘‘up-cycled’’ clothing and accessories made from fabrics found in the city’s op shops.

Both recent imports to the region, Alesia moved here from Hawaii, while her sister-inlaw Yael moved from Switzerland.

Alesia and Yael said they find Nelson to be ‘‘a wonderful place for creative endeavours’’ and Ma Belle Soeur highlights their combined appreciation for joyful and colourful fabric along with environmental consciousness.
